Freddie Starr & The Midnighters

FREDDIE STARR AND THE MIDNIGHTERS. Merseybeat group active between 1962-64 who were the first of the Mersey groups to appear in the nightclubs of Hamburg prior to The Beatles. They were promoted by Brian Epstein and recorded three singles on the Decca label with the legendary Joe Meek, but all failed to chart. Freddie Starr went onto become a well known TV comedian of the 1970s.
